Objective ========= To work with technology in an environment that allows me a creative role as well as a hands-on role in creating and maintaining interesting systems. Education ========= Attended University of Central Florida for Computer Science, 2004-2005. Withdrew without graduating. Professional Experience ======================= April 2006 - March 2011 ----------------------- Developer and Systems Administrator, PlatinumTel Communications, LLC / HBS Labs, LLC. The IT department of PlatinumTel spun off into HBS Labs in 2007. My position and responsibilities remained effectively the same through the transition. I was hired in a software development position, which grew to include designing some of the systems I implemented, and later also to include many systems administrator responsibilities. I: * Maintained as well as created a number of web applications using Perl and the Catalyst framework. These websites included public-facing websites, websites for PlatinumTel's authorized agents, and internal applications. Some of these sites employed the jQuery JavaScript toolkit. * Created tools using Catalyst and Petal to facilitate bilingual websites. * Wrote scripts to load, process, and mine significant quantities of billing data. * Performed day-to-day administration on an in-house server room including 20+ machines running Debian Linux and a small number running Red Hat Linux. * Deployed server and service monitoring using Zabbix, Smokeping, and custom scripts. * Managed the migration of a number of services to virtual machine instances running on Xen 3. * Worked heavily with OpenLDAP, BIND, ISC DHCP, and Samba, in a project to upgrade core network services. * Built a custom GPS-synchronized NTP time appliance running FreeBSD as a spare-time project. In addition I had regular contact with technologies including Apache, mod_perl, FastCGI, Jabber, Postfix, Hylafax, Oracle, Asterisk, and Quintum TenorCMS. Other Notables ============== * I am a credited contributor to open-source projects including Catalyst, DBIx::Class, and perl. * I have been credited for technical contributions to _The Definitive Guide to Catalyst_ (Diment, Trout 2009) and _Effective Perl Programming_, 2/e (Hall, McAdams, foy 2010). * I presented a talk at Yet Another Perl Conference (North America) 2007, on multilingual websites using Perl, Catalyst, and Petal. * I am a dedicated amateur photographer.
